Austal Industry Day in Washington, D.C.
It takes years to build strategic relationships in manufacturing and often even longer to garner any quantifiable returns on investment. Muskogee Technology (MT) knows that this kind of investment is well spent time and energy. MT actively works to nurture these strategic relationships, with the knowledge that when worked correctly, this effort will pay off in spades.
Recently, MT attended the 2019 Austal Industry Day held over a two day period in Washington DC. They had one-on-one meetings with the Austal Purchasing Department’s Procurement Managers and Buyers. This offered MT the opportunity to tell their business story and explain how they can support Austal USA’s efforts as a top ranking Naval supplier and shipbuilder.
Additionally, there were star-studded speakers on deck including Alabama Representative, Bradley Byrne, Rear Admiral John Neagley, Rear Admiral William Galinis, Alabama Representative, Martha Roby, and Congressman Steve Scalise. And during the event, Austal USA presented their annual Supplier Awards. Attending on behalf of Muskogee Technology were Westly L. Woodruff, President/CEO and John Christy, Business Development Manager. During the event, both engaged in personal one-on-one meetings with the offices of Senator Doug Jones, Senator Richard Shelby and Congressman Bradley Byrnes. The meetings were to educate the legislators of MT’s specific needs and challenges in an efforts to educate these representatives and seek their support.
Regarding the event Woodruff stated, “Our neighbors at Austal are the premiere shipbuilders equipping the Navy with the elite LCS and EPF fighting vessels. We feel honored to be chosen to be one of the 50 suppliers invited to this event from the over 800 Austal suppliers worldwide. We look forward to furthering our relationship with such an esteemed shipbuilder as Austal.”
